Finals and Work

Oh man! I'm kind of slackin' here...SO, I am HAPPY to announce that as of today, Kenneth is finished with finals! YEA!!! I am so excited! And more than that, I know HE is excited! He has been working very hard this semester and the last 2 weeks have been beastly for him! Yesterday he had his least favorite final - Heat Transfer - he somewhat despises the class, and was really frustrated when he was working on the practice exam and couldn't figure anything out! Mind you...my hubby is SMART - his friend who actually LOVES the class was having a really hard time too. So, he was getting really frustrated, so I suggested that we say a little prayer. I figure why try to do it all on your own when you can get help?! So, after that he felt better and the final ended up being a lot easier than the practice exam. Today he had his last final for his manufacturing class...I haven't talked to him yet, but I bet it went well.

Besides that we've got a lot of other fun things going on. Today I am interviewing for a manager position at my work. My boss asked me if I would be interested in the position a little while ago, and after much consideration I decided I would. The experience would be wonderful, and the extra money would be very nice while doing more construction this summer. So, I am REALLY nervous because there are two other internal people who are applying...but I don't know who they are...I hope I get it!

Anyway, I was going to mention plans for the weekend, when i remembered it is only WEDNESDAY! Yikes! I hope the rest of the week goes a little faster! I'll have to wait on that so I remember to update this blog at more regular intervals...anyway...I'll let you all know how the interview went!

Oh yeah...I forgot

Oh yes...my friend Blair reminded me that I forgot to mention that during my weekend craziness, I also chopped off my hair! It is super short now! I told the woman I wanted it about an inch past my shoulders, and she chopped it about an inch ABOVE my shoulders! I cut it just one length because I was tired of the short layers. So, now I have incredibly short hair that I am still trying to figure out if I like or not. It is nice to get rid of all the split ends though!

A Weekend of Fun!

So, this last weekend was a BLAST! My brother Michael was married on Friday, and because of the occasion my family all came into town! It was so much fun to see all of the parents, siblings, and nieces and nephews...they are SO cute! It was great because everyone was finally able to see our finished house! Also, my dad (Papa) and step-mom (Jayne) stayed at our place which was tons of fun.

Now, as for the wedding...it was WONDERFUL! Michael and Kim were smart...they had the wedding in the afternoon, and just walked down to the temple (where the ceremony took place). It was wonderful and beautiful, and Kim looked AMAZING! Afterwards, we had the family over at our place, were we had a quick lunch, and then Kenneth and I rushed on our way to pick up the bouteniers...I'm a horrible speller...those flower things that the parents pin on their shirts :) Then we went over to help out with the reception which was at the "This is the Place" monument in Salt Lake. The reception was very simple, but SO pretty! They just had white tableclothes with these beautiful flower arrangements which were done by Kim's friend Nicomi - white lilies, red tulips, orangish/yellow roses, pink carnations plus some fun greenery. They also had some amazing catering which was VERY good! It was so fun seeing extended family who I haven't seen for awhile. It was awesome! My family left right after the reception, so come Saturday we had an empty house again...

So, on Saturday, we just had a relaxing day initially...cleaned the house, did some cooking, read my book, Kenneth did some homework, etc. That evening, however, we were hosting our dinner group - a group consisting of 5 couples (plus 6 little ones) mostly of people Kenneth knew from growing up. We get together once a month for dinner and chatting. This month we were up, and unfortunately due to some family events, only 2 couples were able to come; Danny & Heather and their baby girl Brooke (born on easter) and Kendell & Melissa and their baby girl Mercedes (born 2 days after easter!). It was a lot of fun getting together, and chatting...our dinner groups are seriously one of the highlights of my month!

Anyway, the weekend is gone...and work is back - at least it is going well thus far! I can't wait for all the excitement of this week! Kenneth has a final on Wednesday, and then one on Friday, next Monday and next Tuesday...then he will be DONE - well, not really...He is taking 2 summer classes also. One is Numerical Methods (a programing class where you program a computer to do calculus for you) and PDE (partial differential equations). He also will be working ~33 hours a week at his intern at Easton (where he is in product development as an intern for mechanical engineering) AND will continue working on additional house projects. Poor Kenny - he isn't really getting a break at all! Hopefully our trip to Hawaii in August will recharge his batteries! Well, that's about it!

A Sunday Adventure

So, Kenneth and I kind of live in the ghetto...well, it's not really ghetto - people aren't getting shot there everyday, but it reminds Kenneth of when he was on his mission in Mexico. Every spring, the community does a clean-up, where people can pile all their junk out on the street, and on the 21st garbage guys will come to take it all to the dump. Needless to say, there are some HUGE piles lining the sreets. Sady I must admit that Kenneth and I are taking part in all this - we are FINALLY getting rid of all the construction junk that has been sitting on the side of our house...Yay! We won't be white trash anymore!

So, the funny thing is, some of the people in our neighborhood have been skowering the piles and doing a little "shopping." So, on Sunday, my brother Michael and his soon-to-be-wife-in-two-days Kim came over for dinner and got to see the action first hand. Thus far we have had the following taken from our pile:

4 red and white checkered pillows that came with our couch

a set of blinds

a DVD rack - a person came to look at it and didn't know what it was, so we put a sign on it and the person came back and picked it up!

The old glass windows that we removed from the house

Sheet-rock

& a bread maker

Michael thought it was hilarious. After we ate dinner they wanted to play around with Kim's mom's new camera that they are taking on their honeymoon and to the reception down in Cali. So, we decided to take advantage of the Sunday warmth and walked around the neighborhood taking "trash" pictures of all the piles. It was a blast! I NEED to get some pictures up here...but it's kind of hard when we don't have the internet at home...I'll work on that. Anyway, has anyone else had fun experiences with trash parties?

Oh HAPPY FRIDAY!

I am SOOO excited...IT'S FRIDAY! I have been waiting for this day all week! I am so excited because lots of fun things are going on!

1) the weather is FINALLY getting warmer! I might actually be able to go outside this weekend!

2) Cousin James' finace, future Cousin Monica is having her bridal shower! They are getting marred May 3rd, and I am so excited for them! The bridal shower is at my aunts house, so I am excited to see Aunt Pat, and cousins along with the future bride!

3)We are FINALLY going to finish our living room! All the moulding is up, and now all we have to do is paint the moulding and vacuum, vacuum, vacuum! Then we will be set to FINALLY unpack our last boxes!

4) Kenneth is picking up our couch! We bought a couple off of KSL awhile ago, but since we've been doing consturction in our living room, we've been storing it at Kenneth's parent's place. I am SOO excited to finally have a normal house! Living room and all!

5) I am teaching the Young Women on Sunday! Good think I looked at my calender otherwise, I would have completely forgotten! So, I'll have to do some preparing in between painting this weekend...but I'm sure it will be great!

6) and last but not least...NO WORK! Which means no unhappy customers! :)

I hope everyone is looking forward to their Happy Friday as much as I am!

Easter Weekend

So, you're probably wondering why I am posting about easter when it was over 2 weeks ago...well, not for me! Becuase my mother-in-law was in the hospital over Easter weekend, we decided to celebrate it this past weekend during General Conference. Kenneth and I spent the night at his parent's house for the weekend and enjoyed uplifting talks, good food, fun company, and so much more! On Saturday we helped the Easter Bunny get ready with some additional things we were doing for the family, and then on "Easter" all the family came over. Aidan, our 2 year old nephew, kept running around picking up and opening all the hidden easter eggs, and wouldn't leave them alone! Then again, I don't know what we were thinking putting off the easter egg hunt until noon! Anyway, it was VERY fun, and now Kenneth and I have more candy than we should eat in a year. We seriously have a jar that is a foot tall and about 8" wide FULL of candy! Goodness! Anyway, it was super fun. Yea for Easter!

I know...I know!

So, SOME people have reminded me that I NEVER update my blog...and so now I am! Ha!

So, what's new...Kenneth and I have been working on our house some more...our living room has been painted (whoo hoo!) and we are finishing up with the baseboards, and crown moulding. I love it! I need to get pictures up here...but not having the internet at home, and not having the camera at work makes that a little hard!

Also, I have been sick...I didn't get sick at all during the entire winter, and once spring official arrives I get sick...I think my body is playing tricks on me! Not fair. Anyway, that's really about it. I PROMISE to update this more regularly though, so keep checking back!
