Spring Break in Vegas

Kenneth and I headed (yet again) to Las Vegas - this time for Spring Break. We stayed with my brother Michael & his wife, Kim (who is due any day now).

We had fun going rock climbing on Saturday with Michael, Kim, Jose, Analee & Allison (and 5 little ones including Jonathan). It was kind of crazy going in a group where there were several babies/toddlers, but it was great.

We even got to see a helicopter rescuing people off of the top of a nearby mountain. (We think it was for training). The little boys were VERY excited.

Danny also experienced his first repel this last weekend. We were trying to hike to a climb, but it got a little too intense feeling carrying Danny. Luckily we stopped at a point where there were chains for repelling.

We also watched "Gone with the Wind" this weekend. I have never seen it before, and had no clue what it was about, but thoroughly enjoyed it.

Analee & Jose left on Sunday, but Kenneth and I stayed through Wednesday. We were secretly hoping we would be there long enough for Kim to go into labor, and to see little Jonathan before we came back to UT, but that didn't happen. Danny ended up getting sick on Sunday (and is just barely getting better), so while Kenneth caught up with random climbers on Monday and Tuesday, I stayed indoors with Danny & Kim. I actually loved Danny being sick for the fact that he became a little cuddle-bug, which he usually is not.

Wednesday Kenneth and I headed home. I was started to feel a little sick myself at this point, and got a full-blown cold by Thursday. Kenneth took his GRE on Thursday morning and did well (whoo hoo!). On Friday we worked on projects around the house (painting doors, changing light fixtures, outlets, fertilizing our lawn, etc). Later that evening we went to my sister, Alisha's house to help her with some last minute projects. She is moving to GERMANY where her husband Sai is stationed for the British military. She is leaving in less than a month and is trying to get things situated. I can't even imagine what it would be like trying to pack up your life and move to a foreign country!! I am hoping that Kenneth and I will be able to visit her there sometime in the future. Go Europe!

In other random news, Danny has started to Army Crawl. We saw it for the first time yesterday. He loves remote controls, so we placed one just out of reach, and he started scooting to it using his arms and legs! It was incredible! We tried to get it on video, but were unsuccessful. We will keep trying.

Anniversary & New Years Eve

Kenneth and I celebrated our 3rd anniversary on Dec 29th. It is amazing to think that so much time has already passed, and yet, it feels like we've been together for so long because we have been able to accomplish so many things and experience so many wonderful adventures together. In the 3 years that we have been married we have worked in Alaska, purchased a home, been to Hawaii, had a baby, and Kenneth has had many wonderful engineering internships to help for after graduation. We have also had countless rockclimbing trips and hikes galore throughout Utah. It has been such a fun adventure and I can't wait for all the many other things we will do in the future as our family grows.

This year, we headed down to Vegas. I laugh because it seems like we go there ALL the time, but NOT for the conventional reasons! We stay away from the strip (honestly, who wants porn thrown into their faces??) and spend most of our time in Red Rocks either climbing or hiking, and we just can't say no to the warm weather (at least compared to Utah's 20 degrees). This year was even better because my brother Michael and his wife Kim are living there for a few months, and they were gracious enough to watch Danny for us. The rest of the week we hung out with family and had a wonderful time.

It is so gorgeous here! It is a shame most people go to Vegas and miss it!

Reading with his Uncle Michael

We learned that Danny LOVES to lay in the sun! He was in heaven.

Conquering the rock!

We were also down in Vegas for New Years. In the early evening we spent some time with my brother Michael's friends - Allison and Chris. They had lots of people over and we had BBQ ribs, pizza and other goodies and spent time playing the Wii. It was really fun! I was a little chicken to try to Guitar Hero when everyone was around, so I played afterwards once most people had left, and I loved it! It was great! I will admit that my brother and I are made from the same mold...we both concentrate so hard on it that we barely move, while Kim and Kenneth rock out. It was hilarious. Afterwards we headed back to Michael and Kim's and watched the Vegas fireworks on TV. Silly huh? We were in bed by about 12:15 am! We had a great time! We'll be heading down again in less than a week on our way to Los Angeles for our CRUISE TO MEXICO!! :)

Las Vegas Part II

Now, to continue with our trip to Vegas...

Sunday - we hung out and went to church. Didn't really do anything else.

Monday - Kenneth, Danny, Kim & I went out rockclimbing once again in Red Rocks. We found the BEST spot for Danny! It was Mother Nature's cradle!

(Kenneth and I want to submit this for a Chaco ad!

This was Danny's view of things.

Tuesday - Kenneth, Danny, Kim & I (unfortunately Michael was at work and missed out on most of the fun!!) went to the Hoover Dam. It was CRAZY big!

...and of course we went rockclimbing again. ;)

Las Vegas Part I

Kenneth, Danny and I headed to Las Vegas during part of Kenneth's Fall Break last week. We were lucky enough to stay with my brother Michael and his wife Kim while we were there! It was so fun to see them again and to spend some time together. Here is the low down of what we did!

Friday - arrived in Vegas and had fabulous pizza

Saturday - did a hike and some rockclimbing in Red Rocks just outside of Vegas. We LOVE that place! It is gorgeous and has some fabulous climbing!

That night we went to the BYU vs. UNLV game. I haven't been to a game since I graduated! It was so fun! BYU won 59 to 21! It was fun also because I saw my friend Emily V. from my hometown as well!
