Bridals...

So, my friend Megan Kunz is working on her photography portfolio (see her link in the side of my blog to see) and so she took pictures of me and Kenneth for "engagement" photos, and this last weekend we got together and we took fake "Bridals" for me. SO FUN! It was hilarious getting dressed up in my wedding dress all over again. My old roommie, Heidz and her sister Ciara came over all day on Saturday and we just hung out, chatted, and then got down to business of doing my hair and make-up. Then they came along for the fun of the photo shoot. I thought it was hilarious because since these weren't real and I've already been married a year and a half, I'm sure I didn't have that "glow" that most engaged women have (not that I don't absolutely LOVE my marriage...because I do!). Anyway, it was hilarious, and I felt really dumb having to run in my dress and whatnot, but oh well! It was really fun over all, and I at least got to wear my dress again! Ha! Anyway, I'll post some pictures when she's done editing them. Good stuff!

Floating Down the Oneida!

So, Kenneth has told me repeatedly that I have not blogged about our most recent adventure...so here it is!
Last Saturday, July 19th, we traveled up to Idaho with Michael, Kim, and a bunch of others friends to go floating down the Oneida River near Preston, ID. Not going to lie I was a little nervous because I've never been tubing down a river, but it ended up being a lot of fun (despite some injury inducing events). Here are some photos of the adventure!

The "before" picture of the chaco lines of Kenneth, Michael & Kim.The entire group of everyone who went

Going over the waterfall! - Yeah, I know it's small but it was scary for me! You can't see the stump I ran into in this picture!
Another look at the falls. When I went down the second time I apparently went down just slightly different than everyone else, and my tube jumped out from under me and I was caught!! I kept being pushed down by the little waterfall there, and could NOT get out!!! Don't even worry - Kenneth has footage of it! Anyway, I was totally stuck and it kept pushing me down. It wasn't even that deep! Pathetic I know! Anyway, I finally got up on my feet and had to jump forward just to get out of the nasty little cycle I was in. I ended up scraping up my knee and hips. Great fun gotta tell you!

The "after" picture of the chaco lines. They were very happy!

Arg!

So yesterday Kenneth and I FINALLY went out to ride our bikes...it was the first time I rode mine since we bought it like 2 weeks ago. Anyway, it's really ridiculous because I am kind of scared of riding a bike after a horribly humiliating fall on a bike on the side of one of the largest intersections back home...

Well, I didn't fall or anything, BUT...we were going down the Jordan River trail and I was STARTING to feel a little more comfortable when my back tire POPS! I was so annoyed because we JUST bought it and it was supposed to be some good tire that seals the hole with this slime stuff that is inside...yeah right! Totally didn't work. It was even worse that we didn't get to enjoy the bike ride at all since we'd only been out for like 3 minutes...literally! I'm annoyed too because I was just on the normal trail! I didn't even deviate off it it! Arg!! Anyway, then we got to walk back home with the ridiculous bike...I think we're going to have to invest in the no-pop tires...but with my luck they'll go out SOMEHOW in like 10 minutes time...

Grandeur Peak & More!

This weekend was very full and super fun!
After work on Friday Kenneth and I drove down past Provo to buy me a bike! Kenneth found a killer deal on a great bike on KSL for $100! We got there, and there ended up being a flat in one of the tires, so he lowered it to only $90! It was great! Anyway, we went and bought me a new tire, and a new bike seat and grippers for Kenneth's bike. I am SO excited to start alternating from biking and running in the mornings. It is going to be so fun!

That evening, we went and saw the movie Hancock with Kenneth's friend Jack and Jack's girlfriend Amy who were up here from California for a visit. The movie was better than I thought it was, though it definitely could have cut out the cussing...there was a lot. That was a bummer. Anyway, it was fun to get out, and to see them.

Come Saturday, Kenneth and I woke up and headed out for our weekly outdoor adventure! This time we just did a short hike up Gradeur Peak - which is a mountain up Millcreek Canyon. I'm not going to lie it was a nice change to JUST do a hike this time without the packs or the climbing gear. The hike was fairly short also...6 miles roundtrip. We did the hike in about 3 hours and took some fun pictures along the way. It was a GORGEOUS hike! Totally different than the other canyons up here in SL. The hike was INCREDIBLY green, and there was very little rock...just trees everywhere! It was beautiful!
Here we are in the middle of the hike. I LOVE how green it was and I loved the crazy big dandelion type things...

A picture of Kenny-boy

Here we are at the peak! It was gorgeous and the view was AWESOME! Sorry about Kenneth's naked body...he got a little hot during the hike.

Just a couple more peak pictures

Later than evening, we went to our monthly dinner group with Danny & Heather, Mark & Debbie and Scott & Martha + lots of babies :) I always look forward to our dinner groups because they are SO much fun...I love getting out of the house, enjoying good food and good company! We had grilled chicken (AMAZING!), one of Scott & Martha's amazing salads, lovely fresh fruit and corn on the cob (a summer MUST!). We topped off the evening with brownies & vanilla ice cream...yum yum! It was way fun!

Two of the couples had to leave to get their babies in bed, so Kenneth and I (the only babyless couple of the group) stayed and watched a movie with Danny & Heather called "Flawless" - it was really slow, but ended up being better than I initially thought it was. Also, we shot off a couple of fireworks - of the illegal type. Danny & Heather bought them in WY, and being the paranoid person I was, I was a little nervous. Danny shot one off and it was so loud that the neighbor across the street peaked out the window. We shot a few more off, but the pacing neighbor who was now on the phone convinced us it was time to go inside. Anyway, all in all it was an amazing weekend with lots of super fun times! Gotta love it!

Oh Kenny Boy!

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, my husband! He is the greatest! I am so happy that he is always willing to compromise and work through things with me. He is so patient with me and always lets me know how much he loves me...even when I am being difficult :). He seriously is the greatest ever!

P.S. - How fun was my night last night! I decided that I want to start practicing the piano again. So, I was just playing some simple hymns and Kenneth was playing along on the guitar, and we were singing our hearts away...it was GREAT!

Happy 4th of July!

Sun Dial Peak & Blanche Lake

...in a very non traditional way.

Kenneth and I have been planning a backpacking trip up to Sun Dial peak for some time now. We did the hike last summer when we came home from Alaska, and we wanted to camp up there and actually climb Sun Dial Peak. So, Thursday after work we packed up and headed out! Kenneth's friends from Snow College, Ben & Jenalynn were in town from AZ so they came with us for part of the hike up. It was really fun to see them again, and it was fun to see Kenneth get so excited to see old friends!

The hike up was beautiful! I love how gorgeous and green Utah is as soon as you get up in the mountains! We just took it slow - since I'm not really used to backpacking - and chatted the whole way up. Eventually Ben & Jenalynn had to head back down to get to their car by dark, so Kenneth and I continued on our own. We soon reached the top, and I think I can now claim Sun Dial Peak as one of my favorite spots in SL County! Sun Dial Peak itself is huge and gorgeous and there is also a beautiful lake up there, Lake Blanch and TONS of waterfalls! GORGEOUS! I love it! Once there, we quickly set up camp and got some much needed sleep.

The next day we got up, packed up our gear and hiked to the base of Sun Dial Peak for the rock climbing portion of our trip. The climb was 4 pitches (which means 4 lengths of the rope). The climb was fun and the view was spactacular! I did get a little nervous on some portions of the climb (Kenneth only told me AFTERWARDS that most people get too scared to do a climb like what we did...Alpine climbing it's called...). Overall though it was great! We finally finished rock climbing around 4:30...and we still had to hike the 3 miles down to the car! Phew! Let me just tell you...I was NOT excited about putting that pack back on!

We started down the mountain side and I was starting to feel the pain! My feet, knees, back, hips...everything! We were certainly dead by the end of the hike! I felt like an old woman because I was so hunched over!

After we reached our car (we were SO happy!) we headed straight down to Highland to spend the evening with Kenneth's family. We had burgers, and Kenneth and I rested on the couch with our little nephew while everyone else went to watch fireworks...yup, that's right...we didn't even watch fireworks on the 4th of July! Don't blame me though...I couldn't even walk outside!

Well, that is the extent of our weekend. Kenneth did a test on Saturday, and I rested and cleaned. Then Sunday we had church and I took like a 4 hour nap! Ridiculous! It was SUCH a fun weekend though...I just hope I recover by this upcoming weekend for our next hike!

It's TOO Hot!

Can I just tell you...it is TOO hot! Our little house has no central air, and we roast in there! Earlier this summer we bought a little fan, which we soon found out doesn't do much at all. A few weeks later we finally broke down - well I guess I finally broke down and we bought a little window mount air conditioner...it works great in our room, but the rest of the house melts...literally. I've had to move some of our food storage items out of our spare bedroom and put them in the freezer because they were starting to melt!

I felt really bad yesterday when Kenneth's mom, dad and Grandma came over to visit us...our little house was roasting them alive! I'm glad it finally warmed up out here in UT, but couldn't it just warm up to 85 and then stay there? Please?!
